Even though the Redmi 6A had already received the MIUI 10 update for the Chinese model, Xiaomi reiterated at the device’s Indian launch that it will soon receive MIUI 10 for the global variant. Of course, this will first arrive as a beta version before a stable rollout follows later in Q4 2018, probably somewhere in November or December.

Redmi 6A Android 9 Pie update
- Android 9 Pie update expected in Q2 or Q3 2019
Devices in the Redmi series receive one major OS upgrade and that’s exactly what to expect on your Redmi 6A. The phone has Android 8.1 Oreo preinstalled, meaning the only other OS it can jump to officially is Android 9 Pie. Given that the Redmi 5A may have to wait until late Q4 2018 or even early Q1 2019 to receive Android Oreo, we are looking at a possible Q2 or even Q3 2019 for Pie to be released on the Redmi 6A. Of course, we are not certain about this date.
